Canada announced temporary Ebola-related border measures targeting travelers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. Beginning May 27, 2026, immigration documents from residents of these countries will be suspended for 90 days, including previously approved visas and eTAs.
Starting May 30, travelers who recently visited these areas must quarantine for 21 days upon arrival in Canada, even if they have no symptoms. Symptomatic travelers will be isolated for medical assessment.
The government says the risk in Canada remains low but is taking precautions due to the severity of Ebola and increased global travel ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
